EXPERT ADVISORY PANEL
The Dolphin Coast Residents and Ratepayers Association (DOCRRA) is an apolitical, award winning civic activist group with over 7 000 members operating in the extended Ballito area. Together with partner civic and rural organisations grouped in the KwaDukuza Organised Residents Alliance (KORA), we speak for 40 000 households in the wider KwaDukuza area.
DOCRRA continuously engages through its various committees with a wide range of government institutions in collaboratively finding solutions to our region’s problems and advancing the wellbeing of our community.
The recent growth in scale and influence of the organisation, has persuaded us it is time to
establish an Expert Advisory Panel made of volunteers from the community with specialised skills who can guide the DOCRRA leadership in responding to specific issues which arise from our engagements with authority. We are asking you to put up your hand if you think you can help us.
The technical clusters within the Expert Advisory Panel are:
Legal, with an emphasis on local government, town planning, municipal courts and bylaws,
contract and administrative law.
Electrical, with an emphasis on distribution systems, metering, occupational safety, contracting,
maintenance and project management.
Civil, with an emphasis on major civil projects, quantity surveying, project management,
maintenance and estimating.
Environmental, with an emphasis on environmental compliance by new developments, marine
preservation, air and water quality metrics and noise pollution.
Town Planning, with an emphasis on SPLUMA applications, zoning policies, usage rights and
outdoor advertising.
Information Technology, with an emphasis on large-scale billing systems, systems security,
communication platforms and advance technologies deployable for local administration, such as
licensed drone pilots.
Volunteers will not be asked to serve on the DOCRRA administrative bodies, attend routine
meetings, or represent DOCRRA in its interface with authority. In short, no red tape. The
Technical Clusters, each chaired by a DOCRRA executive member, will only be asked to give advice on the specific issues which may from time to time be referred to them.
This is not a paid position, but it brings its own rewards in knowing you are helping your
community.
Those interested may respond to admin@docrra.co.za with a brief description of their
experience and area of expertise.
We looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
