Report Taxi Vigilantism NOW!

Our recent Community Conversations event highlighted the pressing issue of taxi vigilantism and residents’ frustration with this issue.  Despite media coverage and promises of investigation, there has been a concerning lack of progress and accountability. No taxi association has the right to police the mode of transportation being used by citizens. DOCRRA is committed to addressing this situation and ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

The Department of Transport is responsible for regulating the commercial transport sector, but the absence of reported cases at the Umhlali SAPS has hindered the response to the culprits. It is crucial that we report incidents of harassment, intimidation, and violence perpetrated by taxi operators and their associates. To this end, we have established a dedicated email address to report incidents you have witnessed.

Email taxi report to reporttaxi@docrra.co.za with the following information:

  • Date, time, and location

  • Photographs or video footage

  • Your name, contact details, and a description of what you saw (number plates, individuals, vehicle make and model)

DOCRRA will collate the information and lay charges against the taxi association and/or perpetrators. We will work closely with SAPS Umhlali to ensure that justice is served.

We cannot guarantee prosecution, but we can make a difference and curtail this bad practice.

Together, we can put an end to taxi vigilantism and create a safer environment for everyone.

Let’s take a stand and make our voices heard. Report taxi transgressions and related incidents to reporttaxi@docrra.co.za and join us in creating safer roads for everyone.
