On Friday, 5 August DOCRRA, as a part of the KZN Alliance of Ratepayers Associations, attended an online webinar given by the National Treasury on municipal budgeting.
This was a very well-presented and comprehensive presentation on the entire process of putting together a municipal budget including the protocol and timelines that must be adhered to. It was very interesting to learn about how the budget must refer to the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) as well as hit a variety of target dates for completion. Many of these processes were known to us already, but some new information was presented that will no doubt prove useful as the budget process for 2024 for KwaDukuza has already begun.
